i notice I have to wait about 5 secs before I can start typing on the "Search" bar on app's 1st start up.
I have also tried enabling Smart dial for "Backgrunder" but wat I face was whenver I toggle out of Smart dial..... The next time u re-enters Smart Dial, it does not bring up the keyboard automatically eventhough the search bar is already in focus.... Even if you re-tap on the search bar..... the key board still doesn't comes up..... I have to press cancel.... and then back again on the search bar..... before I can start looking for a contact.
I really hope you can solve this.... I dun mind using "backgrunder" to address the slow startup issue.... But I really find its a hassle to have 2 additional key strokes before I can start searching for contacts everytime.....after backgrunder is enabled.
I don't really have a way to test this so not sure what is going on. I talked it through with someone in a similar situation and I may be able to do it by moving my 'show keyboard' code around, but then it would always pop the KB up when you came back from the help screen. probably not a big deal...
i'll see about this in the next version, so long as it doesn't affect startup perf. BTW, it should start faster on 2.2. The time is largely Apple's time - my code is only about 800ms to 1.2 seconds.
